General Installation
Get a Workshop mod running on your DayZ server, then adjust its settings.
This is the shared installation process for our DayZ mods. Once the mod is loaded, use its own guide for file paths and configuration details.
Before you start
Have the mod folder, access to your server files, and access to your server's launch settings ready. Stop the server before changing files, and keep a backup of any existing configuration or mission files you plan to edit.
Install the mod on your server
- Upload the mod folder to your DayZ server root—the main folder that holds your server files.
- Add the mod to your launch parameters. If you use a hosting panel, update the mod list or launch settings there.
- Copy the included
.bikeyfile into the server's keys folder. - Merge any supplied item types into your mission's
types.xml, when the mod requires them. See the note below before editing this file. - Start the server once. Mods that generate a profile configuration will create their files on this first run.
- Stop the server, edit the generated configuration, and restart. Use the mod's guide to find its file and understand the settings.
Make sure players load the mod
Players need the same mod loaded on their DayZ client. A launcher or server collection may handle this for them; otherwise, ask them to check their enabled mods before joining.
Find the configuration and logs
The mod guides use paths such as $profile:ModName/ConfigFile.json and $profile:ModName/Logs/.
$profile: refers to your server's configured profile directory. Look inside that directory for the mod's folder. The exact folder and filename are listed in each mod guide.
Editing types.xml
Merge the supplied <type> entries into your existing file. Replacing the whole mission types.xml can remove entries your server already uses. Keep a backup before making changes.
Check your setup
After restarting, join with the mod enabled and test the behavior described in its guide. Check the mod's logs if it doesn't work as expected.
If a configuration file is missing, check that the mod is in your server's launch settings and that you're looking in the correct profile directory. If players can't join, check that they have the same mod loaded and that you've copied the key.
Still stuck? Ask in the Workshop Discord and include your mod name, what you tried, and any relevant log messages.
