FiveM Installation
Install a Workshop resource, check its dependencies, and get ready for your first in-game test.
FiveM mods run as server resources. Each guide below covers its own dependencies and extra setup, so start with that guide before copying files.
Choose your resource
| Mod | Resource folder | Setup guide |
|---|---|---|
| Car Boosting | rw_carboosting | Tablet item, vehicle keys, and contracts |
| Gas Stations | rw_gasstations | Station ownership and ox_fuel integration |
| GrubRun | rw_grubrun | Framework payouts and phone or NPC access |
| Rental Cars | rw_rentalcars | Business ownership, fleet stock, and rentals |
Before you install
Use a test server for the first setup. Back up your existing resource files and database, especially if a guide asks you to update an integration such as vehicle keys or fuel.
All four resources require OneSync. Car Boosting, Gas Stations, and Rental Cars use Qbox and the Ox dependencies listed in their guides. GrubRun has adapters for Qbox, QBCore, and ESX; choose the one your server uses.
Add the resource
- Copy the resource folder into your server's
resourcesdirectory. Keep its original name. - Check that
fxmanifest.luasits directly inside that folder. Avoid an extra nested folder between the resource and its manifest. - Install and start the dependencies listed in the mod's guide.
- Complete any mod-specific setup, such as adding the boosting tablet item or setting up pump pricing.
- Edit the supplied Lua configuration. These resources ship their configuration files with the mod; you do not need to wait for a generated JSON file.
- Add the resource's
ensureline toserver.cfg, below its dependencies. - Start the server and check its console for errors before testing in-game.
For example, the GrubRun line is:
ensure rw_grubrunFiveM sends the client portion of a running resource to players when they connect. Players don't install a Steam Workshop mod for these resources.
Apply configuration changes
Save your Lua file and restart the resource. If you change an inventory item or another resource's integration, restart the affected dependencies too, or restart the test server so everything loads together.
Review the mod's economy settings before opening it to players. Test prices, rewards, deposits, deliveries, and returns with a separate player character rather than relying only on administrator access.
If the resource won't start
Check the folder name, manifest location, dependencies, and start order. Copy the first relevant console error when asking for help. For a Lua error after editing a configuration, check commas, quotes, and matching braces around your last change.
